There is a lot of fear going around about the end of the world coming near. People have looked to the Mayan calendar to believe that the world will end in 2012. There are many people who believe this to be a high possibility of occurring. There are many theories on what will happen that year but what 2012: Earth Changes will truly be happening? There is another theory of a pole shift occurring. If this happened then it would cause a magnetic shift that no one is sure what would happen. It has been slowly getting to this point for a long period of time. It is slowly reaching the point of which this could happen. It could mess up electronic devices all over the world.

The next theory is that a solar flare that is very large in size could occur on this year. This would cause many things such as cell phones to stop working. This would put communication between many people in disarray and cause many problems all over the globe.

Many believe this will also be the year of the Earth’s rapture. This would be something that many people would rejoice to have. There are many beliefs about the end of the world. It could be something like an asteroid hitting the earth or a global ice age. No one knows for certain.

If you have divulged yourself in mass media and pop culture recently, surely you have heard people discussing the end of days slated to occur at the end of 2012. More specifically, Armageddon is to occur on December 21, 2012 and there is supposed evidence to support this. No other date has received the hype that this one has, not even Y2K. When I heard about this date, I needed to read the theories and the evidence for myself. I have compiled a list of the most convincing arguments so that you can answer this question for yourself: 2012 Doomsday Fact or Fiction?

Perhaps the most popular foundation for the 2012 doomsday scenario comes from the Mayan culture. Some have sworn by the calendar their ancient civilization created has predicted other events with precise accuracy. Some even say the Mayans predicted the tragedy on 9/11 through their intricate calendar.

This calendar ends without reason on December 21, 2012, which has left those who have sought wisdom from it stranded. These people among many others feel that it is no coincidence that the calendar ends as it does; that this day must surely be the end of the world.

In roughly 2900 B. C., the I Ching or Book of Change was also credited with an eerie calculation to December of 2012. This came in the form of a graph created using patterns from the I Ching; Terrance McKenna created the graph itself. The world is in a state of chaos right now. People have lost their jobs, friends, and even their lives. This continues to go on as depressions and wars begin to become a daily part of society. People are wondering where the human race is heading. We could be heading towards our demise or to our sanity. We fight and kill but we want it all to stop. We won’t though, for it is human nature. Are we heading towards doomsday at a rampant speed? Many have begun to hold onto the belief that the world is going to end on the year 2012. Is “2012 doomsday or a new beginning” for the world? Are we going to all die or will we drop our old beliefs and embrace one another and live out our lives as a race for an eternity?

Are we all going to die on the year 2012? What is truly going to happen on this year? What is the evidence that this is going to happen? What does everyone believe?

The 2012 debate is not a young one at all. People have been speculating what is going to happen since the bronze age. The Maya were the ones to originally come up with a belief of what is going to happen. Not too long after did Nostradamus come up with a similar theory. These people got their assumptions from a variety of things including the stars and from using forms of divination. Do these really hold any water, you ask? Not particular would be your answer.

The main belief is that we are all going to die. We are all going to turn it dust or vanish into thin air. The second main belief is that it will be a death of human thought. By this I mean that all human beings will think in an enlightened way. N o one is v=certain how this will occur or how it will affect us but that is the belief.

Another belief that holds a lot of water is that nothing will happen. Maybe all of these people have been blowing smoke to scare everyone. It is a great way to get movies and books produced. If people are worried they will want to know more. So, this could just be a ploy for people’s greed.

2012 has already caused an uproar with many people. A lot will be preparing themselves that year for the end. Many books and television shows have gained popularity because of 2012. Chances are this is how it will happen. The new year will come around. The psychos that believe the world will come to an end will rape and pillage everything. Then nothing will happen. Everyone will rejoice except for the people hurt by nothing but a few words spoken by an ancient civilization. That, or they could very well cause the end of the world they so believed would happen on it’s own. It could be a self-fulfilling prophecy. That would be irony.

The last day on the calendar created by the Mayans is December 21, 2012. This is striking fear in some people and many believe it marks the time of the end of the world. But some people believe it means something else. People who are not shuttering in fear understand the meaning of the prophesies and calendars in a different way.

Because the Mayans had such a good understanding of the galaxy, there is another meaning that can be interpreted.
